De hectaren zijn die binnen de gemeente en worden per brand opgeteld, dus grond die twee keer brandde telt dubbel; daarom kan het aandeel, alleen gegeven voor gemeenten van 10 km² of meer, boven 100 % uitkomen (dan als veelvoud). Het beschrijft wat er gebeurd is: het meet geen risico en zegt niets over oorzaken.
