Privacy policy

You can use all of WorldFires without signing up and without giving us any data. This page explains the little we do process: the server’s technical logs, the messages you send through the contact form and, when ads are shown, Google’s advertising cookies.

Last updated: 4 October 2026

Who is the controller

Doomos Real Estate S.L.U., tax ID (CIF) B86022159, registered office at calle Juan de Mariana 8A, 1.º C, Madrid (Spain).

For any privacy matter, write to us through the contact form.

When you write to us

If you use the contact form we store your email, your name if you give it, the message, the page you wrote from and an encrypted fingerprint of your IP (not the IP itself), used only to stop mass submissions.

The message reaches Doomos’s mailbox and we use it only to reply to you and, if it points out a mistake, to fix it.

Legal basis: your consent, given by sending it (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time. Retention: deleted automatically after two years, or earlier if you ask us.

Maps and site resources

To draw the maps, your browser requests the background images directly from OpenStreetMap (streets and terrain), Esri (satellite view) and NASA GIBS (satellite imagery from the day of the fire). Those requests carry your IP address, as any visit to a website does, and each service handles it under its own policy: OpenStreetMap, Esri and NASA. We do not send them any other data about you.

Fonts, the map library and the flags are served from our own server: opening a page makes no request to Google Fonts or other content delivery networks.

Advertising and Google cookies

Some pages show Google AdSense ads, which help keep the site running. They are served by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC.

To show them, Google may use cookies and similar identifiers in your browser (for example __gads, __gpi or IDE) to limit how often you see an ad, measure its performance, prevent fraud and, only if you agree, personalise ads to your interests.

The first time you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a Google notice asks for your consent. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) for personalised ads and for cookies that are not strictly necessary.

You can change your mind at any time from Privacy preferences at the bottom of every page, and manage Google advertising at adssettings.google.com.

Google may process data in the United States. That transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and by standard contractual clauses. How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Who it is shared with

We do not sell or hand over data to anyone. Only those who provide the service to us are involved, and they are contractually bound to process it on our behalf:

  • Hetzner Online GmbH (Gunzenhausen, Germany), which hosts the site in the European Union.
  • Doomos’s mail server, through which contact form messages arrive.
  • Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, only for ads, as explained above.

And the authorities, when a law requires us to hand data over.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, rectify or erase your data, object to or restrict its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time without affecting what was done before.

Write to us through the contact form saying which right you want to exercise. We will reply within one month.

If you think we have not handled your data properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency: www.aepd.es, or to the authority in your country.

Children

WorldFires is not aimed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly ask them for data. If a child has written to us, their parents or guardians can ask us to delete the message.

Security

The site is always encrypted (HTTPS), we keep the minimum, and IP fingerprints are encrypted in a way that cannot be reversed. No system is infallible, but we apply reasonable measures to protect what we process.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes in what we do with data, we will update this page and the date above. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site itself.
